Horse Park opens gates to evacuees

In light of the spreading damage from the Thomas Fire in the Ventura and Santa Barbara areas, the Paso Robles Horse Park opened its gates on Monday, December 11, to evacuees. In addition to stabling, the Park has shavings and hay available to evacuees utilizing the facility. The Park asks those in need of stabling to text (805) 610-6326 at any time to make arrangements.

If planning to evacuate to the Paso Robles Horse Park, please provide water buckets and hoses if available; the Park is working to collect additional supplies should evacuees not have an opportunity to bring them. To accommodate the needs of all evacuees, we are asking for donations to the Paso Robles Horse Park Foundation. The Paso Robles Horse Park will work with all evacuees to accommodate individual capacity and need to ensure everyone has a safe place to bring their horses.

For those interested in supporting horse evacuees and other victims of the fires in Southern California, the Park Foundation has two drop-off points for supplies and is accepting online donations. The North County drop-off point will be at the Paso Robles Horse Park office at 3801 Hughes Parkway, Paso Robles. The South County drop-off spot will be at the office at Coastal Equine Ranch at 485 O’Connor Way, San Luis Obispo

“Opening our gates to our neighbors in Southern California is the least we can do in this time of devastation,” said Amanda Diefenderfer, Park Director. “No matter the saddle in which you find your seat, it is the unique spirit of horses that brings us together; we are happy to help in any way possible.”

The Paso Robles Horse Park is also looking for interest and availability of volunteers. Visit our website for more information. Park Staff will contact those that express interest as they gain better understanding of the support needs. Volunteers from all horse disciplines are welcomed to unite and help. The Paso Robles Horse Park is very proud to be a part of the local horse community and its collaborative spirit to help fellow horsemen and women during this
time of need.
