Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services places new aerial ladder truck in service

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services placed a new aerial ladder truck into service Thursday, Oct. 1, replacing an apparatus that had served the community since 2001.

Truck 8141, a 2026 Pierce Ascendant 107-foot Aerial Ladder, officially entered service at approximately 8 a.m. at Fire Station 1.

The new truck includes a 500-gallon water tank, a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump, tandem-axle rear steering for improved maneuverability and a 1,500-gallon-per-minute nozzle at the tip of the aerial ladder.

Department personnel marked the occasion with a traditional “push-in” ceremony, a fire service tradition dating to the horse-drawn era. The ceremony involves firefighters pushing the new apparatus into its station and symbolizes teamwork and service.

The new truck was funded through the J-20 tax initiative approved by Paso Robles voters. The department said the investment will increase the city’s emergency response capabilities.
