Jane Ann Finley


Longtime Soldotna resident Jane Ann Finley (Janie), age 66, passed away on Sunday September 24, 2017.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday October 1, 2017, at Peninsula Christian Center. Peninsula Christian Center is located at 161 Farnsworth Blvd in Soldotna, Alaska.
Janie died peacefully after an enduring and valiant battle with cancer. Jane was a December baby born to Annie Marie Barnes and Franklin Babe Barnes. Jane was the youngest of the family and had two older brothers, Thomas and John Barnes. She grew up in the small central California town of Templeton. It was here during her sophomore year that she would first meet her future husband Warren Finley.
Jane always wanted to be a nurse. After high school Jane began her lifelong nursing career in San Luis Obispo, C.A. She married her high school sweetheart, Warren, in 1972, and shortly after  they relocated to Reno, Nevada. Jane worked for prominent ophthalmologist Dr. Paul Knoop for 14 yrs. It was during her time there in 1977 and 1980 that Jane and Warren welcomed their daughter Kate Marie and son Darren Scott, respectively. In 1989 the Finley family relocated to Soldotna, A.K. where Janie resided until her passing.
Once here she worked as a surgical nurse for CPGH. She later worked as a school nurse serving several local schools. Her last job before retirement was that of a Nursing Care Coordinator. Janie believed she was fortunate to have found a career that she loved in helping others. She was active in her community serving as a member of the Central Peninsula Health Foundation at the hospital. Janie also spent several years as a Cheerleading Coach for Skyview High School. In her free time Janie enjoyed spending time with her family, loving on her Golden Retrievers, antique shopping and scrapbooking with friends.
All who knew Janie will remember her as a compassionate and warm person. Kind and generous to all Janie’s unconditional love was felt by all those who knew her.  Janie stood for her family, friends, community and country.
 Jane was the devoted wife of Warren Finley her loving husband of 45 yrs.  Eleanor Rigby (Ellie) her latest loving golden retriever was a constant at her side. Surviving are her two children, Kate Bartholomew and husband Joel Bartholomew of Florida and Darren Finley and wife April Finley of Alaska. Her three grandsons are Liam Bartholomew of Florida and Maximus and Benjamin Finley of Alaska, who were her pride and joy. She also leaves behind her brother Thomas Barnes of Idaho, niece Randi Butler of California and nephew John Barnes of Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her mother Marie, her father Babe and her brother John, as well as her beloved dogs Amber, Beau, Amber (2), Indy, Lucy, Jake and Bobby.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Central Peninsula Health Foundation.
