Country music’s superstars and reigning power couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, brought their Soul2Soul concert to the California Mid State Fair on July 24 and rocked the Chumash Grandstand arena as one of the star acts in the popular annual Bud Light concert series.

Due to popular demand and packed arenas nationally, the Soul2Soul World Tour which began in 2017 has extended well through 2018 with 25-plus additional dates, including the sold-out show at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on July 21.
“This is the night we’re going to let it all hang out,” said McGraw. “And I’ve got a good-looking woman,” he enthused about his musical partner and wife. McGraw further added: “This is our last show, two days ago we were in Sacramento,” he said of the tour that is reportedly approaching an attendance of one million eager fans. 
Donning his trademark black hat, McGraw addressed Hill as “my heart, my soul, my baby,” and commented on her jeans.
“These are old, don’t throw them away,” she advised the crowds. “They get better with age like everything else,” she mused. Turning to her husband, she said: “I’m talking about you.”

In spite of the intense heat wave and an hour-long power outage at the fair that afternoon, the concert went on without a hitch on the spectacular smoke-filled, neon-lit stage.
Paso’s weather spike did not go unnoticed by Hill. “It was hotter than hell earlier today, but it’s cooled down now,” she commented of the breeze that swept through her long blond tresses and oversize sparkling earrings adding the glam quotient. 
The die-hard fans went wild clapping, tapping and singing along with McGraw and Hill as they sang together in flawless harmony, belting out such popular hits as “The Kiss,” “Shotgun Rider,” “The Way You Love Me” and “I Like It, I Love It.”
The 90-minute plus concert opened with McGraw and Hill’s duo “I Knew You Were Waiting” and continued with singers taking turns singing solos and duets. The crowd-pleasing numbers included “Breathe,” “Free,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Telluride,” “Break First,” “Felt Good On My Lips” and “Angry All The Time.”
As sing-along continued, McGraw’s rendition of “Humble and Kind” brought a touch of sentimentality with images of people from different races around the world flashed on the screen.
The encore and show closer was a romantic ballad as the power couple lovingly sang “I Need You” and ended with a kiss, wildly cheered by the fans.
Before the McGraw-Hill concert, opening act Jack Rose entertained the crowds as they mingled with friends, some looking for their seats, others lining up at food and beverage counters or heading out to the VIP hospitality tent.
