Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend happens Oct. 20-22
Over the hills and through the tasting rooms, Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend rolls out the barrels for a special blend of entertainment and tasting. Dinners, dancing, Gatsby, tasting, pairing, BBQ, live music, tours, costumes, festivities and serenity await in the manicured hills of Paso and around San Luis Obispo County.
With more than 100 participating wineries and tasting rooms, the adventure is out there.
It all begins on Friday, Oct. 20 Thursday, Oct. 19 at Mitchella Vineyard & Winery with a sip-savor-delight of small lot wines and artisan cheeses on the Mitchella patio overlooking rolling hills of east Paso.
On Friday, Oct. 20, local wine country explodes in a regional celebration of top quality vintages and specialty venues of all flavors and sizes. Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend is a Balthazar of uncorked cuvée.
One of the highlights of the event can be found at Cass Winery on Friday night. Come dressed to impress, ‘Roaring 20s’ style, for the Gatsby Garden Party. The event will feature a night of dancing under the stars to the live classics from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett played by the Martini Lunch Band.
Getting from winery to winery can be an adventure of its own, and Paso Robles has a number of tours to serve at your pleasure.
If getting your kicks off road is your style, Central Coast Jeep Tour Adventures will get you there 4-wheel drive style. Sal DeMauro guides guests down the road less traveled with more than 30 wineries on his menu to fit every discriminating taste.
“I have such a unique product, I don’t have to retool for this great weekend,” DeMauro said. “I have such an off the grid experience.”
Four-wheeling with parties of four to six through the hills of western Paso Robles appellations and beyond, the open-air tour provides a short escape from the excitement.
“It is the perfect opportunity to choose us, because I get you off the grid,” DeMauro said. “You get to appreciate the great wine in a more quiet and unique way.”
There are plenty of other ways to get around for the weekend, including Uncorked Wine Tours, The Wine Wrangler, Grapeline Wine Tours, Central Coast Food Tours, and Breakaway Tours. Each one delivers a memorable experience, and could sell out if not reserved in advance.
On Saturday, start all over and bring your appetite. Burgers, BBQ and lobster await fresh off the grill.
Bob will be grilling at Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery, Oso Libre Winery will be slinging burgers, and J. Lohr will be running a second night of its lobster feed in case Friday night was not enough.
Enjoy a concert at Vines on the Marycrest with The Bakersfield Breakers, hit Santa Margarita Adventures to zip line over Ancient Peaks vines, fill your barrel with belly laughs from comedian-sommelier Patrick Ney, or jump in with two feet at Castoro Cellars for the Grape Stomp & Open House.
After Friday and Saturday lay waste to your get-up-and-go, drag yourself over to Eberle Winery on Sunday for some “relax, chill, & refill” before heading back to the Monday grind.
