City Library and Historical Society partner to provide greater access to historical material

The Paso Robles City Library is pleased to announce a partnership with the Paso Robles Area Historical Society to provide researchers access to a greater amount of local history material and the Library’s new state-of-the-art microfilm/microfiche reader that will enable them to browse, scan, print and save the material in several formats.

Shauna Davis, President of PRAHS, stated, “The El Paso de Robles Area Historical Society is very excited about partnering with the Paso Robles City Library. Not only will both of our microfilm collections be available for viewing by the community, but now users will have use of equipment that offers options to share information, further preserving our local history.”

Paso Robles native, and Library Volunteer, Kathy Brown made possible the purchase of this new equipment through her generous donation to the Paso Robles Library Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the library and its mission. When asked why she chose to help purchase the equipment, Brown explained that she was a history major, that she loved the old library and that she loves the new one. Plus, she added, “You needed it.”

City Librarian Angelica Fortin stated, “As we continue to move into the technological future, with support from our community, it is important to reflect upon our past. With the addition of this reader, the Library’s partnership with the Historical Society not only fosters the community’s ties to its rich history, it is fitting; the Historical Society is housed in the place where our history began.”
