On Wednesday, June 5, from 8 to 10 a.m. the Paso Robles Police Department will host its first “Coffee with a Cop” event in conjunction with Starbucks at their store at 1495 Creston Road. Starbucks will provide a free cup of coffee to participants.

Get to know your local officers

CWC Badge Light RGBBased on a national public relations activity, the program seeks to ‘break down barriers’ between police officers and the public they serve. The PRPD encourages people to come and ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers that serve their community. In a press release, the Paso Robles Police Department stated, “…to accomplish our Mission and Vision of striving to be the “Safest” and “Most Trusted” Police Department, we must have a strong community partnership.”

Connecting with the community

“This is a program based around trying to have police officers connect to their community in a different way,” said PRPD Commander Caleb Daivs. Administrative positions generally have more amicable interactions with the public and these type of PR programs help introduce the community to the officers in a friendly environment.
Commander Caleb Davis stated that the department aims to have a steady flow of officers with at least four at the location at all times. Officers will represent a variety of departments within the PRPD, such as detectives, traffic officers an community service officers. The PRPD plans to host more Coffee with a Cop events throughout the year.
