Sylvia June Asavis, age 79, a longtime resident of Atascadero, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on January 17, 2020 at French Hospital in San Luis Obispo. She was born on February 12, 1940 in Lafollette, Tennessee as the only child to Teddy Roosevelt Davenport and Gladys Brown. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, putting together flower arrangements and going to lunch with her close friends. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Louis Asavis and her father and mother. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years at Rocketdyne division in Canoga Park, California.

She enjoyed reading her scriptures and variety of good books with her late husband, Louis Asavis. She loved the outdoors and beauty of nature. Her trips to Alaska with her late husband and Europe with her dear friends was something that she enjoyed and spoke of often.

When her health would allow, she enjoyed attending her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Atascadero, and served there as a greeter with her late husband, Louis Asavis, for many years and enjoyed welcoming others with hugs that would come to worship each week. Sylvia had no children of her own however over the years she loved her dogs and cared for them with love and concern just as a mother would for her own children.

There will be a graveside dedication at the Campbell Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lafollette, Tennessee.
