Heart to Heart Real Estate donates to private citizens and charity
Nonprofits are an integral part of our local economy and its citizen’s health and happiness. In addition to nonprofits, donations through Heart to Heart Real Estate have been given to private citizens and charity programs sponsored by local businesses. The Singe Fund at Paso Petcare received a donation from compassionate pet lover Sherlyn Haynes through her association with Heart to Heart Real Estate. Through the Singe Fund application process, pets receive care that would otherwise be a financial hardship on their owners.
Here is an overview of well-being of the nonprofits who have benefitted from the generosity of Heart to Heart Real Estate and their clients.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong, enduring and professionally supported relationships that will change their lives. The agency is seeking volunteer mentors (particularly male mentors) for girls in the Paso Robles and Atascadero area. Children involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters grow up to be better educated and enjoy stronger relationships with their spouses, children and friends.
The Boys & Girls Club provides high quality out-of-school programs, accessible to all kids regardless of their economic status. As evidence of demand, the after-school program for the upcoming school year is full, with a growing waitlist. Nearly 2,000 low income youth in Paso lack access to affordable programs. Kids left alone are unsupervised, undirected, and potentially unsafe. The Club’s challenge in serving more kids is space since the Flamson site is at capacity. The Club welcomes the community’s ideas on expansion to a larger location.
The Cancer Support Community offers free social and emotional support for those impacted by cancer. Join the educational presentations: Common Myths of Cancer and Nutrition with Dr. Marisa Bolivar on July 13 at 1 pm and Treatment and Side Effects with Dr. Thomas Spillane on August 1 at 6 pm. RSVP required, 238-4411, www.cscslo.org. The discussion offers strategies for dealing with side effects and emotional distress to optimize quality of life during and after cancer treatment. The next fundraiser is Harvest, Hope and Healing: A Night in Paris, August 19 at Rava Winery.
A local ministry truly has a global mission with the leadership of Dr. Warren Frankel. His Healing Hands provides free medical and dental care to the most underserved, disadvantaged people in third world countries. With community support, the organization sends teams of doctors, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, pharmacists and other assisting members to treat patients while spreading the gospel.
The field of grief counseling recognizes that the way a person dies has an impact on how their loved ones express their grief. While most people don’t feel the need for grief counseling, a grief that we may not think of as common or typical may make it harder to deal with our loss. Hospice SLO County provides short term free grief counseling and ongoing support groups to anyone grieving a death or coping with a serious life-altering medical condition.
The Kayla Peach Memorial Foundation works to bring awareness and education to empower families with knowledge and information about the epidemic of substance abuse in our communities. No parent ever thinks it will be “their child.” Donna Kelley’s daughter Kayla is one of those children who lost her life to substance abuse. Donna dedicates her life to prevent this devastating tragedy from happening to any other family; reaching the kids personally, with adult and peer support will change their lives.
Surf’s Up for Surfing for Hope. The positive energy and camaraderie of surfing inspires adolescents and teenagers who are living with family members and friends with cancer. The safe and fun ocean setting with surf lessons and beach activities provides the inspiration and ways to cope with the stress of cancer; particularly for kids who are old enough to understand. Great surf weather is coming up! Join the Pure Stoke Youth program the 3rd weekend in August and September! Visit Surfingforhope.org for info and to make donations.
Local public and private agencies and health care providers call on Transitional Food and Shelter to provide temporary emergency housing to medically fragile persons and their families. Overnight shelters in SLO County are for overnight stays only. Imagine coping with a major illness or injury while having to find a place to rest and recover. TFS also provides casework and recuperative coaching to their participants. Partnering with Heart to Heart Real Estate is an easy way to fill an important need.
The Wellness Kitchen and Resource Center is the only organization in SLO County that provides nutrient-rich meal programs, broths and education to individuals facing a health crisis. The medical community and health related nonprofits and professionals recognize The Wellness Kitchen’s tremendous impact on our community. The dedicated staff and team of volunteers faithfully serve the patrons; offering hope and encouragement on how nutrition affects optimal health. Love and healing intention goes into every meal and cup of broth!
