Paso Robles Rotary scholarships top $115,000 ahead of annual Winemakers' Cookoff

PASO ROBLES — The Paso Robles Rotary Club has awarded more than $115,000 in scholarships to local students this year, thanks in part to proceeds generated by its signature fundraising event, the Annual Winemakers' Cookoff.

According to the club, $116,500 was distributed through 31 scholarships to Paso Robles students pursuing education and training at trade schools, colleges, and universities.

The scholarships are funded through community support and the Winemakers' Cookoff, which returns for its 27th year on Aug. 8 at the Paso Robles Event Center.

"At its heart, the Winemakers' Cookoff is about investing in our community's future," said Dr. Patrick Sayne, the Scholarship Committee Chair for the Paso Robles Rotary Club. "This year alone, we awarded $116,500 across 31 scholarships to outstanding Paso Robles students pursuing everything from skilled trades to four-year degrees. That's the real story behind this event."

The annual event brings together local wineries, breweries, and culinary teams for an evening of food, beverage pairings, and friendly competition. Attendees can sample offerings from participating teams and vote for their favorites in the People's Choice Award competition.

Proceeds from the fundraiser support the Rotary Club's scholarship and community service programs, helping create educational opportunities for local students. The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Paso Robles Event Center.
