Templeton and Oceano/Nipomo Follow in Second and Third Place in annual ‘Showcase of Cities’ at the California Mid-State Fair
Returning for a second year, Showcase of Cities is a display of windows visually showing the unique attributes of the communities in San Luis Obispo County. Located in the Frontier Town Walkway the Showcase of Cities captured the attention of thousands of fair goers who cast their vote for their favorite community window. The 2019 California Mid-State Fair awarded the first place People’s Choice Award to Paso Robles.
The window, created by local artists Max Randolph, Max Randolph Studios, and Anna Takahashi, Anna Gargani Studio, highlighted Nacimiento Lake in the unique depiction of this year’s fair theme, “Let’s Have S’more Fun!”.
The second place People’s Choice Award was awarded to Templeton, who displayed a collection of their community’s local businesses and products, and the third place People’s Choice Award was given to Oceano & Nipomo, who created a look into their community’s history through scenes of campfire ghost stories. Voting took place both online and in-person during the California Mid-State Fair, July 17 – 28.
Participating communities included: Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Oceano & Nipomo, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Templeton, Cuesta College and Visit SLO CAL.
Congratulations to all communities for their exceptional window displays!
The 2020 California Mid-State Fair runs July 22 – August 2 and will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary.
