Windfall Farms pending sale for $16.9 million after 39-day auction

PASO ROBLES — Windfall Farms, a 1,000-plus-acre Paso Robles estate once owned by late “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, is pending sale for $16.9 million following a 39-day auction marketing period, according to Concierge Auctions.

The property was offered in cooperation with Chris Atkinson and Patty Murphy of Sotheby’s International Realty. The Aug. 15 auction was held on the RM Sotheby’s stage during Monterey Car Week.

Previously owned by Trebek until the early 2000s, Windfall Farms combines agricultural, equestrian and residential uses. The estate includes 387 acres of premium dry red wine grapes, operated under turnkey management, as well as 76 approved buildable lots.

The property’s equestrian facilities include a 6.5-furlong racetrack, paddocks and four barns designed for training, foaling, stallion breeding and yearling operations. The estate also includes an approximately 10,000-square-foot main residence, two manager residences and agricultural and utility infrastructure.

"Windfall Farms is the type of extraordinary, highly specialized property that demonstrates the value of a competitive auction process," said Carolyn Wright, VP of Business Development at Concierge Auctions. "Our global platform generated meaningful competition among qualified buyers and delivered a definitive result on an accelerated timeline. Bringing the sale live to Monterey Car Week for our first appearance at one of the world’s premier luxury events provided an exceptional stage for a property of this caliber."

The auction was conducted through Concierge Auctions’ Global Wine & Vineyard Division, which focuses on wineries, vineyards and wine-country properties. The company recently facilitated the $10.15 million sale of Benessere Vineyards in Napa Valley.

The pending sale also includes Concierge Auctions’ Key For Key giving program, conducted in partnership with Giveback Homes, which will provide funding toward new homes for families in need.

Windfall Farms is located in Paso Robles, surrounded by vineyards and wineries and within approximately 30 minutes of the Central Coast communities of Cambria and Cayucos.
