Teen killed in solo vehicle crash

PASO ROBLES — A 15-year-old Paso Robles resident was killed Sunday night after being ejected from a vehicle during a solo-vehicle crash on El Pomar Drive, west of Vaquero Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash at approximately 9:59 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Templeton area.

CHP said 18-year-old Paso Robles resident Jonathan Sanchez was driving a white 2007 Toyota Camry westbound on El Pomar Drive at an unknown speed when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the north roadway edge and struck a tree.

A 15-year-old male passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle was ejected and died at the scene from his injuries.

Sanchez and another 15-year-old Paso Robles passenger were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.

CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have been factors in the crash. The collision remains under investigation by the CHP Templeton Area office.
