SHANDON — A 67-year-old Shandon man was arrested Aug. 5 following a search warrant related to an ongoing investigation into allegations of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant in the 100 block of South Fourth Street in Shandon as part of the investigation and arrested Javier RiveraMojica without incident. He was booked on a no-bail arrest warrant on multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators learned during the investigation that RiveraMojica allegedly gained access to numerous victims through an unlicensed daycare he and his wife operated from their residence.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine whether there are additional victims or witnesses who have not come forward. Anyone with information about the case or who believes they or someone they know may have had contact with RiveraMojica under similar circumstances is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 805-781-4500.
The Sheriff’s Office said victims have been offered advocacy and support services.
The allegations have not been proven in court. RiveraMojica is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
