Paso Robles to host Creeks to Coast cleanup Sept. 19

PASO ROBLES — The City of Paso Robles is inviting volunteers to participate in the 2026 San Luis Obispo County Creeks to Coast Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 19.

The city will host two cleanup sites at Larry Moore Park, 155 Riverbank Lane, and the Salinas Riverwalk, 141 Niblick Road, in the parking lot behind Wendy’s. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, including families, students, community groups and individuals.

Organized by the Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo County, the countywide event includes cleanup efforts along inland creeks, lakes, parks and the coastline. Last year, 839 volunteers removed more than 7,300 pounds of waste from local waterways.

In Paso Robles, volunteers will collect litter and debris along the Salinas River and neighborhood creeks. Removing trash before winter rains helps prevent debris from washing downstream and protects habitat for fish, amphibians, birds, beavers and other wildlife.

“Every piece of trash collected makes a difference,” said Kim Busby, Paso Robles Stormwater Program Manager. “This is a chance for the community to directly protect our river, enhance wildlife habitat, and keep Paso Robles a clean and healthy community.”

Gloves, trash bags and water will be provided, along with free pizza and sodas for volunteers. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection and bring a reusable water bottle.

Advance registration is encouraged to help organizers provide enough supplies at each site, although volunteers may also show up the morning of the event.
