Paso Robles road work to affect Creston Road, South Vine Street and Sierra Bonita

PASO ROBLES — Several construction projects will affect traffic on Creston Road, South Vine Street and streets in the Sierra Bonita neighborhood throughout September, according to the City of Paso Robles.

Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and drivers are encouraged to use caution through work zones.

On Creston Road, trench excavation for new water lines will begin Sept. 10 from just east of Orchard Drive to Laura Way. The work is expected to continue through Sept. 18. Bike lanes and street parking will be closed, but two-way traffic will remain open. Trenches will be covered and cones removed outside of work hours.

The traffic signal at Creston Road and Golden Hill Road will remain in flashing red operation through Sept. 11 while crews reconstruct the left-turn pocket from Creston Road onto Golden Hill Road. The work is part of the $17.8 million Creston Road Phase 2 project, which includes roadway rehabilitation, underground utility improvements, sidewalks and ADA upgrades, bicycle facilities and a new roundabout at Rolling Hills Road.

Developer-funded improvements at Creston Road and Niblick Road will begin Sept. 14, starting with lane and sidewalk closures at the northwest corner of the intersection to prepare for a new right-turn pocket.

PG&E will begin work Sept. 23 to energize a newly installed yellow flashing arrow signal at Creston and Scott streets. The signal is expected to be fully operational by early October and will be the city’s first flashing yellow arrow signal.

Sewer construction will also begin Sept. 14 on South Vine Street between Cuerno Largo and Wilmar Place. The work is part of off-site improvements associated with nearby private development. Single-lane traffic control will be in place during construction hours for approximately three to five weeks, with intermittent delays expected.

In the Sierra Bonita neighborhood, the Neighborhood Road Repair project is entering its final phase following pavement repair and paving completed in April. Slurry seal work will begin Sept. 30 on Fallbrook Court, Lassen Court, Plumas Court, Sequoia Court, Trinity Court, Turtlecreek Road from Airport Road to Brookhill Drive, and Scott Street from Airport Road to Creston Road.

The project is funded by supplemental sales tax Measure I-24, with striping expected to be completed by the end of October.

Residents are encouraged to watch for posted notices and avoid parking in active work areas.
