Paso Robles man arrested after shots fired near Larry Moore Park

PASO ROBLES — A 49-year-old Paso Robles man was arrested after allegedly firing several shots toward a group of people near Larry Moore Park on Sept. 11, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired and found several people, ranging in age from 17 to 23, socializing near their vehicles. Police said an unprovoked male approached the group and fired several shots from a handgun in their direction before fleeing.

None of the victims were injured.

Officers identified the suspect as Michael Sobodtka, 49, of Paso Robles. When officers attempted to contact Sobodtka, police said he was involved in an unrelated dispute and attempted to fight with officers before being taken into custody.

Officers located and seized the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

Sobodtka was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer and domestic violence. He was being held without bail, according to police.

The Police Department said the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no outstanding threat to the community.
