Paso Play in the Garden offers free ladybug-themed program Aug. 22

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Recreation will host the next Paso Play in the Garden program Saturday, Aug. 22, offering families a free, hands-on opportunity to learn about nature and gardening at Uptown Family Park Garden, 641 36th St.

The “Spots & Sprouts” program will take place from 11 a.m. to noon and feature ladybug-themed activities for children and their grownups.

Participants can make a ladybug house to take home, decorate a ladybug rock, learn about the insect’s life cycle and play themed games. Children will also have an opportunity to release live ladybugs into the Uptown Garden while learning about their benefits to gardens.

No registration is required.

Paso Play in the Garden will return Oct. 24 with “Batty About Bats,” featuring activities and lessons about bats and their importance to the environment.

The program is part of Paso Play on Wheels, the city’s mobile recreation program designed to provide free recreation activities in neighborhoods and community gathering spaces throughout Paso Robles.
