Sinkhole closes major Paso Robles intersection

PASO ROBLES — A sinkhole discovered Thursday morning has prompted the full closure of the intersection of Niblick Road and Creston Road while city crews assess the damage and make repairs.

According to the City of Paso Robles, staff were notified of the sinkhole at approximately 9:35 a.m. and responded immediately. Initial assessments indicate repairs could take up to 12 hours, though the exact cause of the sinkhole remains under investigation.

City officials said the closure is necessary because of a damaged water line beneath the roadway and to provide crews with safe access to the work area.

The following closures are in effect until further notice:

Traffic control measures have been implemented, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted detours and directions from traffic personnel. Drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes while repairs are underway.

Nearby businesses may experience temporary impacts due to the closure, though city officials said efforts are being made to maintain access and minimize disruptions.

The city will provide updates as more information becomes available and as repair work progresses.
