Senior Center Celebrates Older Americans Month
By PASO ROBLES PRESS STAFF REPORT · Tue May 19 2026
The Paso Robles Senior Center is celebrating Older Americans Month this May with a series of programs focused on health, wellness, and community connection under the national theme “Champion Your Health.”
Established in 1963, Older Americans Month recognizes the contributions of older adults while encouraging healthy aging through prevention, wellness, and active lifestyles. The theme emphasizes personal responsibility in maintaining independence through physical activity, preventive care, and informed health decisions.
The Paso Robles Senior Center is highlighting its ongoing services, including daily hot lunches through the Meals That Connect program, exercise classes, social groups, bingo, movies, card games, and a no-cost Senior Farmers’ Market in partnership with the Foodbank Coalition of SLO County.
A Senior Wellness Fair will be held May 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by the Cuesta College Nursing Program. The event will feature health-focused booths covering memory and balance evaluations, stroke awareness, cooking for one, and general wellness strategies.
On May 19 from 1 to 3 p.m., the center will host its annual Unbirthday Birthday Party, sponsored by Needelman Insurance. The free event will include pizza, salad, cupcakes, and live music.
Programming continues into June with a Container Vegetable Gardening Workshop by the UC Master Gardeners of San Luis Obispo County on June 5, a Walk Safely Workshop on June 23, and a Resource Fair on June 24 featuring information on housing, legal aid, senior living, and home care services.
