Riverbed fire contained near Niblick Bridge

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a vegetation fire in the Salinas Riverbed south of Niblick Bridge on Saturday, June 13, at approximately 7:55 p.m.
Firefighters arriving on scene found an active fire burning through dense vegetation in the middle of the riverbed. Officials said recently grazed firebreaks allowed crews to safely access the area and quickly stop the fire’s forward progress.
The blaze was contained to approximately 0.40 acres, and no injuries were reported.
Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded with two fire engines, a ladder truck, a paramedic squad, a fire investigator, and a battalion chief. Through an automatic aid agreement, CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire assisted with a battalion chief, a dozer, a hand crew, and four fire engines. A total of 38 firefighters were involved in the response. The Paso Robles Police Department also assisted at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
