Paso Robles Police warn residents following scam incident

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Police Department is urging residents to remain vigilant after a local scam involving the impersonation of a deputy district attorney resulted in a significant financial loss.

Authorities say the victim was told a relative had been arrested after a traffic accident and needed $10,600 for release. The scammer instructed the victim to withdraw cash under false pretenses and arranged for it to be sent via a ride share service.

Police emphasize common warning signs, including urgent demands, instructions to lie to bank employees, and requests for cash transfers. Residents are encouraged to verify such claims independently and contact law enforcement if in doubt.
