Paso Robles CERT offers Disaster Preparedness Training Course

PASO ROBLES — The Paso Robles Community Emergency Response Team is offering its CERT Basic Training Course, a 24-hour program designed to teach residents how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

Open to individuals and family members ages 15 and older, the course covers disaster preparedness, basic first aid, fire suppression, search and rescue techniques, disaster psychology, hazardous materials awareness, and terrorism response. Participants will also learn how to safely assist neighbors and support their community during emergencies.

Classes will be held at the Paso Robles Public Safety Center, 900 Park St., on June 16, 18, 23, and 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. The course concludes with a review and disaster response exercise on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Paso Robles Fire Station 3, 2924 Union Road.

Attendance at all training sessions is required to receive certification. The cost is $40 per person or family.
