Cuesta College opens new instructional building at North County campus

PASO ROBLES — Cuesta College celebrated the opening of its new North County Campus Instructional Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 5 in Paso Robles.

Funded through the voter-approved Measure L bond, the new facility expands hands-on learning opportunities at the North County Campus with flexible classrooms and laboratory spaces for trade, technology, health and wellness programs. The building also includes an outdoor instructional yard for equipment and material storage.

Beginning this fall, the facility will support programs including Commercial Driver’s License simulator training, soil science laboratory instruction, blacksmithing, kinesiology movement and Emeritus yoga.

“This new Instructional Building reflects what is possible when a community invests in its college and in the success of its students,” said Cuesta College Superintendent/President Dr. Jill Stearns. “We are deeply grateful to the voters of San Luis Obispo County for supporting Measure L and making this important project possible.”

Measure L, a $275 million general obligation bond approved by San Luis Obispo County voters in 2014, has funded construction, repairs and other campus improvements throughout the San Luis Obispo County Community College District.

Following the ceremony, attendees toured the new building, including classrooms, laboratories and outdoor instructional areas. The event also featured information about the Measure L project and architectural renderings.
