PASO ROBLES — The public is invited to attend the San Luis Obispo County 4-H Field Day, a free, family-friendly event showcasing youth agriculture, leadership, and hands-on learning, set for Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center.
Billed as a “free little fair,” the annual event highlights youth achievement through animal showmanship, educational exhibits, and interactive demonstrations. Admission and parking are free for spectators.
Visitors can view a wide range of livestock including goats, sheep, horses, cattle, pigs, poultry, and rabbits, along with youth-led clinics, project displays, and demonstrations. Activities also include archery, mule packing, and competitions such as Farm Olympics held in the Stockyard area.
Organizers say more than 125 youth participants and dozens of volunteers will take part in this year’s event, which includes both animal showmanship and “still exhibits” featuring arts and crafts, baking, photography, woodworking, science projects, and more.
“This is a fun, free community tradition that serves as an opportunity for 4-H youth to practice showmanship and display their still exhibits in a supportive environment,” said co-chair Michelle Mitchell of Paso Robles.
San Luis Obispo County hosts the largest 4-H Youth Development Program in California, with more than 960 youth participants and over 200 adult volunteers involved locally.
The program spans communities from Nipomo to San Miguel and Carrizo Plain to Cambria, focusing on hands-on learning in agriculture, science, engineering, and life skills.
