PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is pushing back against misinformation circulating on social media, emphasizing that student safety remains a top priority and that reported concerns are thoroughly investigated.
District officials said they are aware of an anonymous Facebook post alleging unsafe conditions, including drug activity and a recent incident involving a student at Paso Robles High School. The district clarified that claims a student was found “drugged” in a campus restroom are false and that no such incident has occurred.
PRJUSD says they maintain a close partnership with the Paso Robles Police Department, including a full-time School Resource Officer assigned to the high school. Incidents involving potential legal violations are handled in coordination with law enforcement, while students may also face disciplinary action and be referred to counseling services.
In their press release, the district outlined multiple safety measures in place, including vape detection sensors in restrooms, camera monitoring outside facilities, and monthly random K9 searches at junior high and high school campuses conducted in coordination with law enforcement.
While privacy laws limit what can be publicly shared about specific student incidents, officials said all reports are taken seriously and investigated, "PRJUSD is committed to transparency and understands the community’s interest in matters of student safety. At the same time, student privacy laws prohibit schools from sharing details about specific incidents involving individual students. While we may not be able to comment on every situation publicly, we want to assure our community that all reports are taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and addressed appropriately, even when details cannot be disclosed."
The district encourages students, families, and community members to report concerns directly to school administrators or through anonymous tip lines available on school websites.
PRJUSD also urged the public to rely on official communication channels for accurate information, noting that unverified social media posts can spread misinformation and create unnecessary concern.
