Paso Robles launches Paramedic Squad to strengthen emergency medical services

PASO ROBLES — The City of Paso Robles announced the launch of its Paramedic Squad, effective Sunday, Nov. 9, marking a major step forward in the city’s commitment to public safety and high-quality emergency medical care.

This specialized unit, funded through Measure J-20 and supported by the Paso Robles City Council and the community, is designed to rapidly respond to medical emergencies with highly trained paramedics and Advanced Life Support capabilities. By focusing on medical incidents, the Paramedic Squad allows fire engines and specialized equipment to remain available for fires, rescues, and other complex emergencies.

“Medical emergencies account for the majority of 9-1-1 calls within the city,” the city noted in a press release. “The Paramedic Squad ensures paramedic-level care arrives quickly while improving operational efficiency and system readiness during multiple incidents.”

The initiative is part of a comprehensive, data-driven strategy to enhance emergency medical services citywide. By aligning resources with real-time needs, the squad improves unit availability, enables faster access to lifesaving interventions, and reduces wear on heavy fire apparatus.
