PASO ROBLES — Authorities released information on Tuesday, Nov. 11, that Paso Robles High School Principal Megan Fletcher was arrested from campus on Monday, Nov. 10, for a DUI.
According to a press release from Paso Robles Police Department, on Monday, Nov. 10, at approximately 9:04 a.m., the Paso Robles Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) was contacted by Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) staff regarding a possible staff member under the influence of alcohol.
The SRO responded to the Paso Robles High School (PRHS) office and contacted Megan Fletcher, PRHS Principal. During the investigation, it was determined that Fletcher had driven to the location while under the influence of alcohol. She was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and transported to the Paso Robles Police Department for processing.
Fletcher was later released following the booking process. No injuries or traffic collisions were reported as a result of this incident.
On Tuesday, Superintendent Jennifer Loftus, released a statement on social media relaying information to the community about Fletcher's arrest.
"At no point was there any danger to students or staff. The campus remained safe, and school operations continued without interruption," said Loftus.
According to the statement, Fletcher has been placed on administrative leave but due to the incident being a confidential personnel matter, the district is unable to share further details.
Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Mike Susank, will serve as the Acting Interim Principal for Paso Robles High School. Loftus says that Susank brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and student development. Prior to joining PRJUSD, he served as Principal at Mission College Preparatory in San Luis Obispo.
Loftus also clarified that a separate incident involving Fletcher in June was not the reason for Monday's arrest. In June, Fletcher was involved in a traffic incident while operating a District vehicle while traveling to a work-related, out-of-town conference.
"The incident was reported to CHP. Fletcher was not charged with a hit-and-run as is being rumored," Loftus clarified.
Paso Robles Press will provide additional information if/when they become available.
