Michael Susank named principal of Paso Robles High School

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Joint Unified School District has officially appointed Michael Susank as principal of Paso Robles High School, following his tenure as interim principal.

Superintendent Jennifer Loftus praised Susank for his steady leadership, strong relationships with students and staff, and commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence.

“Mr. Susank has demonstrated thoughtful leadership throughout his time as interim principal, earning the trust and respect of students, staff, and families alike”  said Jennifer Loftus, Superintendent of Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. “His commitment to academic excellence and positive campus culture makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead Paso Robles High School forward. We are confident that under his leadership, Bearcats will continue to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”

Susank has focused on fostering a safe, supportive campus, empowering students to grow, and building a culture that highlights staff strengths.

“I am truly honored to serve Paso Robles High School as principal and to continue working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and outstanding students” said Susank. “PRHS is a special place with a strong tradition of excellence and Bearcat pride. I look forward to building on the positive momentum we’ve created together and ensuring every student feels supported, challenged, and prepared for success beyond high school.”

Before joining PRHS as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director in June 2025, Susank served as Principal at Mission College Preparatory in San Luis Obispo and as Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs at Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield. He also competed collegiately as an NCAA national champion and three-time All-American in the Hammer Throw at Claremont McKenna College.

With Susank’s promotion, the district will open applications for a new Athletic Director at Paso Robles High School.

PRJUSD serves more than 6,400 students across northern San Luis Obispo County and emphasizes values of integrity, accountability, collaboration, innovation, compassion, and belonging.
