CMSF opens entries for wine and craft spirits competitions

PASO ROBLES — The California Mid-State Fair is now accepting entries for its 2026 Central Coast Wine Competition and California Craft Spirits Competition, two blind-judged events highlighting regional winemaking and distilling excellence.

Organizers said Early Bird registration closes Sunday, May 17, with final entries due Tuesday, May 26.

Both competitions recognize wineries and craft distilleries across California’s Central Coast, with entries evaluated by professional judges based solely on quality and merit.

Winning entries will be showcased during the fair, including display exhibits, featured tasting events, and recognition for top producers such as Winery of the Year and Distillery of the Year.

“This celebration showcases two of the most exciting and innovative parts of local agriculture,” said Colleen Bojorquez. “We’re proud to celebrate the passion and talent behind these products.”

The competitions also play a broader promotional role for the region’s wine and spirits industry, with medal-winning producers highlighted throughout fair programming.

The Central Coast Wine Competition is the largest wine evaluation event focused on wines made from vinifera grapes grown in California’s Central Coast regions, while the craft spirits competition provides feedback and recognition for artisan distillers statewide.

More information and registration details are available at Central Coast Wine Competition.

The 2026 California Mid-State Fair runs July 15–26 at the Paso Robles Event Center under the theme “Back to the ’80s.”
