California Mid-State Fair announces ‘Back to the 80’s’ theme for 80th anniversary celebration

PASO ROBLES — The California Mid-State Fair has announced its 2026 theme, “Back to the 80’s,” as the event celebrates its 80th anniversary on the Central Coast.

The retro-inspired theme will influence décor, promotions, and interactive experiences across the fairgrounds, with nods to the music, fashion, and pop culture of the 1980s. Organizers say the theme also provides creative direction for the Fair’s Community Exhibits competitions, encouraging participation from exhibitors of all ages and skill levels—from artists and bakers to growers and first-time entrants.

“Celebrating 80 years is a meaningful moment for the California Mid-State Fair, and Back to the 80’s gives us a fun and engaging way to honor our past while looking ahead,” said CEO Colleen Bojorquez. “This theme invites our community to get creative, have fun, and be part of a shared celebration that reflects the spirit of the Fair.”

Additional details about themed elements and Community Exhibits signups are expected in the coming months.

The 2026 California Mid-State Fair is scheduled for July 15–26 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Ave. More information is available at MidStateFair.com
