Walters and Bell honored as Volunteers of the Year
Library volunteers Mary Walters and Anne Bell were honored as the Library Volunteer of the Year 2016 and 2017, respectively, at the Paso Robles City Library’s volunteer reception on Wednesday, May 17.
Walters began her service to the Paso Robles City Library in 2008; in addition to providing excellent customer service at the Circulation Desk she has assisted with numerous library programs and events over the years. She has also been very active in helping with community events, such as BookPlates!, a library fundraising event, Paso ArtsFest, a community art extravaganza, and the city’s 125th Anniversary celebration.
Bell began her service to the library in 2012 and has been a tireless supporter of the Friends of the Library since. She is the current President of the Friends organization, manages all aspects of the gift store, including purchasing merchandise and the sale of donated items; organizes and oversees the book sales; and heads the Friends Holiday Extravaganza. Last April, she was honored by the City Council for serving more hours than any other volunteer in the City.
“A model program for libraries throughout the State, the Paso Robles Library Volunteer Program demonstrates that we are truly a library by the people, for the people.” Day in and day out, the dedication of our volunteers allows us to provide our community with value-added programs and services.”
