Programs Help Veterans, First Responders, and Families Heal

Recently, I had a chance to catch up with Jamie Warner, West Coast Regional Facilitator for Mighty Oaks Warrior Programs (MOWP). An Atascadero resident and Marine Corps veteran, Jamie provided updates on the amazing work happening with MOWP.

Three had veterans participating in the Men’s Legacy programs and one hosted female veterans and wives of veterans for Women’s Legacy.
“We had about 25 first-time attendees in January and 17 in February, so we are off to a good start,” Jamie said. “The Women’s Legacy program was full and there was a lot of great leadership training going on. The women are really ramping things up and preparing to reach out to others in the future.”

Looking toward April and May, programs will kick off in Virginia, Texas, and Ohio. Additionally, new groups of veterans and leadership trainees will participate in 5-day camps at SkyRose Ranch. Special programming for the veteran prison population as well as First Responders are also in the works. As always, the training, fellowship, support, meals, and lodging are provided free of charge thanks to MOWP sponsorships.
“We continue to receive positive feedback and learn about the many ways Mighty Oaks is helping change lives,” Jamie said. “Recently, an 83-year-old Korean War veteran went through our program. It was amazing to hear about all he has held on to over the years, and to help him heal.”
