In the early morning hours of April 2, a crash took the life of a Paso Robles resident when a Paso Robles man’s 2007 FJ Cruiser rolled down an embankment and landed in an irrigation pond on a private residence in Napa County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle became fully submerged in the water, and a 27-year-old Peter Olney from the Napa area, escaped uninjured, but 30-year-old Chancellor Goforth was trapped underwater until emergency personnel were able to remove him. Upon extraction and transport to a local hospital, Goforth was pronounced dead.

CHP officer Marc Renspurger reported that alcohol was considered to be a factor in the accident.

The case remains under investigation.
