Prison reports no known relationship between positive test of inmates to staff
On April 23, 2020, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) reported one staff member at the California Men’s Colony (CMC) was confirmed as having tested positive for COVID-19. A contact investigation was conducted by the CDCR Office of Employee Health and local public health offices. All indications are there is no nexus between the staff member who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and any inmate-related COVID-19 infections.
No additional information is available for release at this time.
In the event there is a positive case among staff or the incarcerated population at any institution, CDCR has been working closely with county departments of public health with dedicated resources to conduct contact investigations to determine what, if any, exposure may have occurred at the institution. CMC continues to follow and enforce isolation and quarantine protocols in accordance with CDC guidance to address COVID-19 in correctional settings.
