North SLO Comm. Concerts, Thomas Pandolfi

Thomas Pandolfi

To open the season on September 17, concert pianist Thomas Pandolfi will perform the underrated contributions of “Burt, Barry and Beyond: The Music of Burt Bacharach and Barry Manilow.” A graduate of Julliard, Pandolfi has amassed accomplishments beyond his years. Considered a spectacular crossover artist by his peers, Pandolfi’s transcriptions range from Andrew Lloyd Weber, Marvin Hamlisch to, more recently, Burt Bacharach and Barry Manilow.
North SLO Comm. Concerts, Judy Philbin

Judy Philbin

On November 5, American jazz fans can join vocalists Dawn Lambeth and Judy Philbin on a “Sentimental Journey” to hear genres in jazz, pop and musical theatre spanning into the ‘70s. Raised in a musical family environment, Philbin connects with her audience on a personal level through lyrical storytelling and spans a variety of genres.
Los Angeles-based jazz violinist Doug Cameron will appear on March 4 to energize audiences with his vast arsenal of reinterpreted songs as a solo and leading symphonic orchestra performer. Cameron’s early classical roots in violin laid a superb foundation along with an ability to master his instrument, improvise and fluidly cross over between classical, jazz and pop styles.
To round out the early 2018 season, Presidio Brass will return to perform on April 8. For over a decade, the lively five-piece American chamber group has delighted audiences with an engaging and unpredictable repertoire. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the “007 Theme,” “Peter Gunn” and a tongue-in-cheek rendition of West Side Story favorite, “I Feel Pretty,” are but several examples.
