Women’s Honor Farm donates to ECHO

COUNTY — The Women’s Honor Farm Sewing Program donated pillows, pajamas, and blankets to ECHO-El Camino Homeless Shelter on Monday, Aug. 13.
The donation of handmade items were made by inmates who have elected to be a part of the Women’s Honor Farm Sewing Program, where they are gaining valuable skills and have the opportunity to give back to the community.
ECHO is San Luis Obispo County’s homeless shelter serving all of the communities in the North County. They are a 50-bed transitional shelter helping families and individuals find permanent housing within three months of entering. About 60 percent of their beds are occupied by children and their parents.
Some of the women involved in the sewing program shared their experiences, and the impact this program has had on their lives.
On behalf of the Women’s Honor Farm Sewing Program, Senior Correctional Deputy, Lisa Piotrowski received a warm thank you, and a certificate of appreciation from ECHO’s President and CEO, Wendy Lewis.
