PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles Police Department responded to a collision on Saturday, May 26 at approximately 2:22 a.m. The collision occurred at the intersection of Golden Hill and Creston and involved a single vehicle.
Officers from the Paso Robles Police Department, with Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services and San Luis Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they located a single vehicle that had struck a light pole at the intersection. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was identified as Chanel Mickelsen, 27, from Valley Center. An investigation indicated that Mickelsen’s vehicle was traveling westbound on Creston approaching Golden Hill when she lost control of her vehicle. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor to the cause of this collision, according to police.
Paso Robles Police Department received assistance with this investigation from Paso Robles Public Works and coroner investigators from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
