Walter William Winfield was born into this life on March 30, 1931, and died and went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2018, in San Luis Obispo.
Walter William Winfield was born in Chicago, Ill. and raised in Long Beach. He was a graduate of Long Beach Poly, class of '48 and a graduate of Cal Berkeley, class of '52. He served in the Air Force in Washington, D.C. from 1952 to 1957. He worked with ROHR Corp. from 1957 to 1960 and then for General Dynamics from 1960 until he retired in 1991.
Walt married Carol Suzanne Underwood in 1958 and they have five loving children: Walter, Scott, Bill, Elizabeth and Tamra and ten wonderful grandchildren: Lindsay, Jacob, Caroldiana, JosieMar, Kelsey, Tatum, Bohden, Avalon, Violet, and Brighton.
Walt and Carol were blessed with 24 glorious golden years here on the Central Coast, living in their dream house, "Casa de Sueños" in Atascadero.
Walter was passionate about our neighbors facing homelessness and the ECHO Homeless Shelter. Walter was truly a servant of God, taking many roles of leadership in both his church and community.
The Service of Witness to the Resurrection of Walt was held Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Templeton Presbyterian Church.
