Virginia Mae Bordonaro was born in Horseshoe Bend, Texas on Feb. 8, 1931, and passed to the Lord’s hands on Feb. 25, 2018.
She was the third of eight children born to Benjamin and Bessie Wilkinson. During the Great Depression the family moved west. Virginia told stories of living in a tent, working in the fields, and receiving simple gifts at Christmas, like an orange. These hardships gave her a great sense of tenacity and love of family that carried with her throughout her life.
In 1956, she married Tom J. Bordonaro, Sr. and they raised four children together, John (Peters), Sandy (Peters), and Tom, Jr., along with her little sister, Judy Givens (Wilkinson).
The family began in Orange County and moved to Carmel Valley in 1963. She worked at various jobs, but primarily managed the office of the family construction business. In 1976, she moved to Paso Robles where she continued to manage the construction business. Retiring to the family ranch near Creston in 1998, she filled her days enjoying her family, especially her grandchildren, and tending her expansive yard and rose garden. She loved to travel and was especially fond of trips to Europe, Australia, Hawaii, and a 45 day road trip of the U.S.A.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Virginia’s love and devotion to her family was unsurpassed. With a huge heart, she opened up her home to any family member in need. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her one sister Judy (Richard), sons John (Michelle), and Tom Jr. (Martha), grandchildren, Josh (Shannon), Kyle, Francesca (Mike), Anthony, William, Marc, Wayne (Becca), Alicia (Danny), John, Meagan (Dave), Stephanie, and great grandchildren Devynne, Jayden, Colin, Reagan, Autumn, Dawsyn, Charlie, Tristan, and Tobias.
A viewing will be held at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home in Paso Robles at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Paso Robles at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, followed by burial services at the Paso Robles Cemetery.
