TEMPLETON — The Templeton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors presented Geoff Auslen, a representative from the Parents for Joy Playground a check for $1,000 to support the completion of the new inclusive playground in Atascadero.
Parents For Joy is a group of parents and families of special-needs children in and around Atascadero whose mission is to create an inclusive playground that will allow all children to do what most kids take for granted: to simply play.
This playground has features that are accessible to people of all degrees of mobility and agility, and that promotes safety and inclusiveness.
Special features include stainless steel slides which are a necessity for those with cochlear implants, swings with harness systems to keep children upright, and a custom accessible treehouse designed for kids who can’t physically climb a ladder.
They are still accepting donations, visit www.parentsforjoy.org for more information.
A grand opening for the playground was held on April 5 at its location behind Colony Park next to the Community Center at 5599 Traffic Way.
