Stanley Cherry, husband of Anna, father to Matthew and Andrew (and daughter-in-law Emily), and "Papa" to grandsons, Seth and Luke died Thursday, Sept. 20 at the age of 75. Stanley was born in Goodland, Ind. and attended Purdue University.
Stanley and Anna moved to Atascadero in 1973 where he became an integral part of Atascadero's growth. As president of Santa Lucia Bank, he helped many citizens get their start, sometimes with a signature or simply, a handshake.
Stanley was active, not only in business, but also in serving the community with the Rotary Club, the Elks, and more. He proudly served for over 20 years in the Army National Guard. He was also physically active, taking yearly backpacking trips, and attending his grandsons’ sporting events regularly.
Many, including business associates, friends, neighbors, but mostly, his family, will feel Stanley’s loss. He was the smiling, loving dad/grandpa that always had a positive word. Stanley Cherry will be missed.
A celebration of Stanley's life will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Atascadero on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Woods Humane Society – North County, 2300 Ramona Rd., Atascadero, CA 93422.
