Sophie Flemion takes over Bearcat Women’s Volleyball

PASO ROBLES — Sophie Flemion has been named the varsity head volleyball coach for Paso Robles High School. Flemion is a Central Coast native and brings with her a wealth of volleyball knowledge and experience to her new position.

As a four-year player at Coast Union High School, Flemion helped lead her team to a CIF championship. She was selected as the CIF Southern Section Division 5A Player of the year along with being named Coast Valley League MVP and first-team All-SLO County. She was also an original member of the 805 Elite club volleyball program.

Flemion is an accomplished collegiate player, having competed in both indoor and beach volleyball for California State University, Bakersfield. During her time there, she served as captain for two years and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She also co-directed Valley Sand Volleyball Academy and coached club teams.

“Coach Sophie Flemion is a great addition to an already talented coaching staff at Paso Robles High School,” said PRHS Athletic Director Anthony Morales. “She is a bright, hard-working, and passionate coach who has been part of successful teams at several levels. As an athletic department, we couldn't be happier with our newest coach.”

Flemion has already begun preparing for the fall season and said that she loved the energy in the gym.

“In just the first week of practice, I see that we have a wonderful group of dedicated girls that will put their hearts into developing a program that brings the community together,” she said. “This program has a team-first attitude and we are ready to bulldoze through this summer’s preparation for season through training, learning and competing.”

Flemion will also continue to teach physical education at Flamson Middle School.
