Smoke from Turkey Fire impacts North County


Smoke from a fire in southern Monterey County made for a hazy Monday afternoon in North San Luis Obispo County.

Cal Fire San Benito-Monterey reported battling a fire at about 1 p.m. near Parkfield. The fire was near Turkey Flat Road.

As of 3:45 p.m., the vegetation fire was 2,225 acres with no structures threatened and 60 percent containment, according to Cal Fire.

As a result of the fire, North County residents were warned to expect heavy smoke, and people with respiratory conditions were encouraged to limit their time outside.

The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District issued a health advisory, warning residents residents throughout the county about drifting smoke from wildfires burning across the state and the Turkey Fire.
