Sharon Chambers passed away peacefully at her home in Atascadero on March 26 with loved ones by her side.
Sharon was born on Aug. 23, 1949, in Van Nuys to her parents Barbara and William Devore. She was the oldest of six children and her mother then married Jerome Fortman. Sharon graduated from San Fernando High School in 1967 and was raised in Arleta. Growing up she enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the outdoors while camping and water skiing. She was an excellent water skier who used just one waterski. She married her high school sweetheart, Rick Chambers on Dec. 20, 1968, which would have been their 50th wedding anniversary this December. Sharon worked as a secretary for Lockheed Aircraft while working on the Cheyenne Helicopter project as well as other Lockheed aircraft. She also spent time working as a secretary at Edwards Air Force Base. Sharon and her husband Rick joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1977. Sharon was a proud mother to her four children Lisa, Sara, Cathy, and Brett. She was involved in many of their activities and held various church positions. Her proudest moments as a mother were when her children graduated from high school and college and watching her children walk down the aisle at their weddings. Being a Grandma brought many moments of happiness to her. She loved each of her ten grandchildren so very much and always sent them cards in the mail for every holiday. She spent many weekends visiting her children and grandchildren and traveled to Utah to visit her children and grandchildren as well. She had an infectious smile and made everyone around her feel loved.
Sharon is survived by husband Rick, daughter Lisa Sadowsky and son-in-law Brian and their children Emily and Alex, daughter Sara Raines and son-in-law Allen and their children Ryan and Tyler, daughter Cathy Buschold and son-in-law Brandon and their children Oliver, Mia and Nicholas and her son Brett Chambers and daughter-in-law Mary and their children Jack, Audrey, and Lauren. She is also survived by her mother Barbara Fortman, sisters Linda Markham and Zita Nix and brother Richard Fortman and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death to her brothers Mike and Earl Fortman and stepfather Jerome Fortman.
There will be a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. at 2600 Ramona Rd, Atascadero. Following the services, there be a lunch reception.
