On Wednesday, April 18, volunteers from the Flamson Middle School and Lewis Middle School Leadership classes teamed up with San Luis Obispo County's Tobacco Control Health Education Specialists in an effort to rid the city park and its surrounding areas of cigarette debris. In just one hour's time, and with more than 20 volunteers, the students and their teachers were able to gather 2,613 cigarette butts. This is double the amount gathered last year.
The students received many thankful comments from community members in and around the city park and were proud to help in the efforts to keep the city clean.
