PRHS students to host forum for board of trustees candidates

PASO ROBLES Students in the Paso Robles High School Advanced Placement Government class will host a forum for the candidates running for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees. The forum is open to the public and will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the PRHS Performing Arts Center.

All eight candidates running for office have been invited to attend. The candidates are: Christopher Arend, Lance R. Gannon, Tim Gearhart, Field Gibson, Matthew C. McClish, Kathleen Yankee Hall and Stephanie Ulibarri. There are four seats up for election on Nov. 6. Three seats are for the four-year terms, and one seat for the two-year term.

The forum is being held to provide information to the community; it is not a debate. Candidates will have 2 minutes to introduce themselves and then will be asked eight questions that they have not seen in advance. Each candidate will have 90 seconds to answer and the order will rotate. Audience members will be allowed to submit questions and the student committee will select which questions are presented to the candidates. The forum will end with a closing statement from each participant.
