PRFD puts out car fire Monday morning

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles firefighters put out a car fire Monday morning, Sept. 10, at an apartment building near a school.

The fire sent black smoke into the air shortly before 8 a.m. as students were being dropped off or walking to nearby Georgia Brown Elementary School.

The smoke was from a four-door sedan burning outside of the Paso Robles Gardens apartment complex on the corner of Sims and Oak streets in north Paso Robles.

One engine spent nearly an hour putting out the fire that totally consumed the vehicle. Residents in the neighborhood watched as the firefighters put out the blaze and protected nearby by buildings and autos.

Paso Robles Police Department officers helped keep people out of harm's way and kept traffic moving during the busy time of the morning for the school.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
