Victim sustained burn injuries

PASO ROBLES  – On Sunday, March 11 Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services responded to an apartment fire at around 2:57 p.m. The fire was located at an apartment in a complex at 2041 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles.

A Paso Robles Police Officer was on patrol when the officer was flagged down by a civilian. The officer found a person lying down on the floor near an open front door. The officer with the help of a bystander removed the victim from the smoky bottom floor apartment.

Within four minutes a Battalion Chief arrived on scene and found Paso Robles Police Department officers with the victim lying in the front yard. Smoke was still coming from the bottom floor apartment.

With the first arriving Engine Company, the firefighters treated the victim for burns and confirmed the fire was out. The fire was determined to be a grease fire. Firefighters also confirmed that the fire did not spread to additional units and removed smoke from the residence. A total of fifteen firefighters from Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services, CalFire / SLO County Fire, and Atascadero Fire Department responded. San Luis Ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital for burn injuries to the hands and body.
