Parolee Harvey arrested Friday night


SHANDON — The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office arrested a wanted parolee Friday evening, Sept. 21 in Shandon.

The search for parolee Larry Charles Harvey, 20, from Shandon, began Friday morning and concluded later in the day after deputies received a report at approximately 5:15 p.m. that he was spotted outside a residence in the 100 block of South 7th Street in Shandon.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Harvey ran away. He led deputies on a foot chase through the nearby riverbed, into backyards, and through a home before being caught near the intersection of Calle Carmelita and E. Centre Street in Shandon. Harvey was arrested without incident.

Harvey was wanted in connection with a series of vehicle thefts and a burglary in the Shandon area from Thursday, Sept. 20.

Harvey was considered armed and dangerous and residents were advised to lock their doors, secure their vehicles, and to not leave keys inside their vehicles on Friday.

A reverse 911 had also been issued to residents in the area where Harvey was last seen.

Shandon Elementary and Shandon High School sheltered in place while deputies searched for Harvey on Friday morning.

Harvey was booked into County Jail on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1:05 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of burglary and violation of parole. His bond was set for $50,000
